If you have three lively boys and a property with a few trees, and enjoy spending lots of time outside; if you are looking for a beautiful location where the whole family can get together and enjoy a relaxing atmosphere; if you also want to provide an adventurous sleeping cabin for your guests and a wonderful playroom for the children, then, according to the Wencke Family, a treehouse is just what you need.
They asked us to build a treehouse on their property near Bremerhaven. It was to serve as a multi-purpose, romantic den for adventure and peaceful activities, for relaxation and play for the whole family, but also as an extra guestroom for friends and their children.
At the western end of the property there is a double row of trees of various species and a small campfire site. Two ash trees and two elms, each with a diameter of 40-50 cm, were chosen as 'hosts' for the new treehouse. As with the Plendelhof treehouse, the treehouse construction was to be suspended from the trees rather than being fixed rigidly to them.
The client wanted the insulated interior to provide enough space to seat the whole family and comfortable sleeping space for two adults.
The terrace was to face the campfire site nearby, and the windows were to offer a panoramic view of the wide northern German landscape as well as up into the treetops.
