Winding Snake

The Sequoia sempervirens, also known as the coast redwood, is native to the northern Californian forests, stretching as far as southern Oregon. These giant trees reach heights of over one hundred metres and can also live for more than two thousand years. These trees are the setting for the design Winding Snake.

The treehouse comprises a staircase which winds like a snake around a mighty sequoia trunk, ending in a closed, double-storey cabin. At mid-height there is an elliptically-shaped terrace. The weight of the entire construction is transferred to textile straps via steel cables. The gigantic dimensions of these trees allow them to bear far greater weights than this, so that the imagination of the treehouse builder knows practically no bounds.
